独自の観察を通じて見つけた日常の断片を構成要素として作品に織り交ぜ、不穏さと美しさが共存する不思議な世界をつくりあげる森千裕（1978－）。都市生活で目にする看板の文字や商標、子どもの頃に夢中で描いた絵、人との会話の中で放たれる思いがけない言葉のフレーズなど、彼女は自身の記憶や心を揺さぶるものたちを、作品の中で冗談を含んで表現します。制度的なものからとりとめのないものまでが脈絡なく結びついた、落書きのような絵画やユニークな立体作品には、理性の統制からはみ出していく計り知れない想像力と社会の常識やルールを自由に組み替えようとする力を感じ取ることができるでしょう。

本展覧会は、森千裕の絵画、ドローイング、写真、立体、映像などの作品を新旧交えて紹介する、美術館で初めての個展です。また今回は、「今はないもの」をテーマに森が小学校で行った授業やワークショップで生まれた子どもたちの作品の一部を、作家が自身の作品とともにインスタレーションによって展示します。“omoide in my head”と名付けられた本展は、森千裕と子どもたちの頭の中の世界が交じり合った、謎めく展示空間が立ち上がります。

森 千裕（もり・ちひろ）
1978年、大阪府生まれ。2005年、京都市立芸術大学大学院修士課程美術研究科絵画専攻修了。
主な個展に2006年「フィンガーピクルス」児玉画廊（大阪）、2012年「ピンク色の闇」無人島プロダクション（東京）、2016年「テニス肘」Satoko Oe Contemporary（東京）。主なグループ展に2007年「夏への扉-マイクロポップの時代」水戸芸術館（茨城）、2010年「絵画の庭─ゼロ年代日本の地平から」国立国際美術館（大阪）、2013年「六本木クロッシング2013アウト オブ ダウト」森美術館 (東京)など多数。東京都在住。

Chihiro Mori omoide in my head

Chihiro Mori (b. 1978) takes as her compositional elements fragments of the everyday gleaned from her unique observations of the world and weaves them into works of art, creating mysterious realms both beautiful and unsettling. In these works she draws on her memories and things shaking up her world?the text of signs and logos she spots as part of urban living, the pictures she loved to draw as a child, the unexpected phrases thrown up in conversations with people?and expresses them with a healthy dose of humor. In Mori’s graffiti-like paintings and unique sculptural works linking the institutional and the incoherent in a manner devoid of context, viewers will detect immeasurable imagination stretching beyond the bounds of reason, and an ability to rearrange social conventions and rules to the artist’s own liking.

This, the artist’s first solo exhibition at a museum presents a mixture of works old and new by Chihiro Mori: paintings, drawings, photographs, three-dimensional pieces, videos and more. Mori will also display, in the form of an installation, a selection of children’s works produced at workshops and classes run by her on the theme “Things that don’t exist now,” combined with works of her own. Titled “omoide in my head,” the exhibition builds an enigmatic exhibition space blending the worlds inside the heads of Chihiro Mori, and the children.
