Tamayama Takuro, initially a painter, has rapidly emerged as one of the most prominent artists working today, acclaimed for installations that combine three-dimensional objects with light, video, and sound. His works transform mundane objects such as desks and light bulbs into manifestations of the earth and stars, expanding our perceptions of the relationship between internal space and the external world and investigating the boundaries between them at various scales. Rather than setting clear boundaries, Tamayama’s art presents interfaces where disparate elements intersect and collide, forming environments that are both fully integrated and dynamically destabilized.

This exhibition essentially consists of a single installation, in which Tamayama introduces entities that transcend typical categorizations such as architecture, structure, three-dimensional art or sculpture into the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art’s distinctive exhibition space. The installation appears to warp gravity and magnetic fields, momentarily suspending and altering various everyday scales and standards and generating uncharted territory. At the same time, it offers profound insights into the nature of our being in the present-day world where all manner of boundaries are in a state of constant flux.
